Celebrate the wins of your day

There are days in our everyday lives when we are so busy and caught up with our daily to do’s that we forget to enjoy the present. You may be looking for how to bring back appreciation to your daily tasks or how to make time for the things that truly matter to you, when you feel you just don’t have the time for them. Here are some tips and ideas on bringing glow to your day.

Before starting your day or even thinking about your to do list, take a moment to stop and imagine what a great achievement for today would be. An example might be making progress on your work, health or friendships etc. Or your desired outcome may simply be to have an enjoyable day, appreciate and make the most of today.

Stop for a minute or two and imagine you are at the end of your day and give yourself a minute or two to visualize having already achieved the outcomes for the areas you are wanting to make progress in. Visualize this in color. How would it feel? Would you feel good from having achieved these things?

As you begin your day and achieve any of your outcomes during your day remember to celebrate them and continue to build celebration. A life worth living is a life worth celebrating. Celebrate the wins of the day.

Most importantly begin your day by feeling good about the work in your life. Move out of overwhelm, move away from the focus of the task list and first understand your outcomes and why’s and celebrate your outcomes.

A lot of the time we write long to do lists without any feeling attached to them. When you can attach feeling to your goals then you will enjoy the smaller tasks more, enjoy the journey and not be overwhelmed by your task list. It can also give you motivation having already seen and felt the end goal.

An example of a to do could be going shopping to buy food.

However, the actual specific outcome might be filling your fridge with healthy and delicious foods in order to create energy in your life and create healthy meals for you and your family.

It is important to always have sight of our end goal and not get caught up in our endless to do lists.

I personally think it is important to have a to do list (although everyone is different) as I find writing things down gets them out of my head and reduces stress of being overwhelmed of needing to think and remember too many things.

Write down 2 – 3 of your most important outcomes you want to achieve today (not to do’s). Ones that would give you a sense of accomplishment and making real progress in areas that you want to work on today. Keep these with you and in front of you for the whole day. Setting reminders on your phone that notify you once every hour or so keep you focused on the outcomes that you want to achieve today. This is a great way to keep you on track.

Now with your 2 – 3 specific outcomes for the day written in front of you visualize having already completed each specific goal or outcome. Get excited about the achievement of each outcome. Celebrate the wins. Add music and make sure you get in the correct state of enjoying having achieved that outcome.

Now after you have visualized completing those outcomes, imagine you had a journal and were writing about how your day went in your journal. What would you write?

Imagine a day that you had recently that went well where you achieved an outcome even if it’s as simple as having a really good day. What made that day good and why? How did you feel, what did you do and who did you spend the day with? What can you copy from that day to put into this day to also make it a success?

If you find that you lose inspiration quickly once your morning has started or you feel that you just don’t have time to set your intentions for the day in the morning, then try doing it in the evening before. Perhaps while you are having a cup of tea and some down time, this is a great time to set your intentions for the next day. Imagining how great you would feel tomorrow night once you achieved your outcome really increases your chances of actually achieving your desired outcome the next day.

Good Luck! Celebrate the wins!
