Kettlebells are one of the most minimal and functional strength conditioning pieces of equipment you can have at home. This makes them an essential for any home gym.

Below I have included 7 great kettlebell exercises to do at home. These are my favourite, most effective and time efficient full body kettlebell exercises to include in your training programme. I add these to my daily morning routine with a light kettlebell to warm the body up and to increase strength, mobility and flexibility.

Kettlebells take up little space, are portable and you can use them almost anywhere.
They are a great functional strength conditioning tool that can be used for an effective full body workout and great for performing effective compound exercises. As well as being a great way to integrate cardio and strength training kettlebell training is a fast and effective way to burn calories and increase mobility.
 
 
 

What to look for when buying a kettlebell

Kettlebells come in all different shapes and forms, sizes and materials. Not all kettlebells are created equally, before buying any kettlebells consider the following:
 
Handle   Ensure handle window fits both hands comfortably that it is the right size, that the handle is comfortable with a smooth surface and has no rough joins or nicks.
 
Weight – Pick an appropirate weight for your level and goals. Generally starting at 4kg / 8.8lbs this is fine for a beginner or for toning and cardio kettlebell exercises.
For building muscle go for something heavier. However, if you haven’t used a kettlebell before this is a good weight to begin your training with and to practice your technique for these kettlebell exercises and then move up in weight once you are comfortable.
